Actis joins TV’s Jon Culshaw to present trophy at LABC Building Excellence Awards

Insulation specialist Actis is to present a trophy to one of the 15 winners of the LABC’s prestigious annual awards at a ceremony in London next month.

The LABC Building Excellence Awards event, the largest B2B awards in the building control sector, will be hosted on November 9 by Dead Ringers star, comedian and impressionist Jon Culshaw.

Broadcaster and former MP Gyles Brandreth presided over last year’s ceremony.

This year’s glitzy event, to be held at the Park Plaza Hotel at Westminster Bridge, will be attended by 800 guests from across England and Wales.

Winners from all 12 regional awards, which attracted entries from hundreds of applicants, are automatically entered into the national finals, with categories covering developments ranging from domestic extensions to multi-million-pound commercial projects.

Judges are looking for high levels of compliance with building regulations, effective working relationships with LABC surveyors, outstanding craftsmanship, technical innovation and the use of skills to overcome difficult site conditions.

Actis UK and Ireland technical director Thomas Wiedmer and specification manager Dan Anson-Hart, whose company is an LABC sponsor, will be attending the event, with Dan presenting a trophy to one of the winners.

Dan explained: “We work very closely with the LABC, hosting monthly seminars all over the country on how to avoid thermal bridging, and are delighted to be involved in helping recognise companies and individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their construction projects.

“The awards, which are among the most recognised in the industry, showcase buildings and design teams which have had to wrestle with complex technical or construction issues and building site constraints. They highlight innovation and creativity and demonstrate how building control professionalism leads to safe, sustainable and high-quality construction projects.”
