Actis to present Custom and Self-Build Project of the Year prize at Structural Timber Awards

Actis specification manager Amaret Chahal and regional sales director Jemma Harris will be presenting an award to the winner of the 2023 Structural Timber Awards Self-Build Project of the Year next month.

The awards celebrate what can be achieved using the most natural and sustainable of materials.

Actis, which has sponsored the awards for a number of years, is keen to champion the work of designers who create individual, dramatic but, crucially, environmentally-friendly buildings.

This is the first year in which Amaret, co-writer of one of Actis’ RIBA-approved CPDs, has been on stage to make the presentation at the event, which takes place at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham on October 4.

Last year the award was presented by Actis regional sales director and Women in Construction ambassador Jemma Harris, who will be attending the ceremony on the night.

Projects shortlisted for the award include a neighbour community centre in London, a dramatic pavilion  at the Victoria and Albert Museum and a timber frame self-build in Berkshire.
